About The Disney Wedding Blog

The Disney Wedding Blog is the unofficial center for all things Disney weddings. The site is an inspiration and information resource for couples planning a wedding, proposal, honeymoon, or vow renewal at any of the Disney theme parks or resort areas. We are dedicated to making the journey to your Disney wedding just a little bit easier!

Started in early 2008 as "The $20,000 Disney Wedding", the blog has evolved from a planning diary for our Disney wedding to a showcase for real Disney weddings and wedding events. Since the blog was born out of the idea that a Disney wedding could be held on a limited budget, we pay a lot of attention to offering money-saving tips and budget-saving strategies. In addition to sharing beautiful stories and photography from real weddings, the site strives to provide honest reviews of Disney-area vendors and helpful hints for planning these destination celebrations.

Questions and submissions for guest posts, vendor information, and real wedding spotlights may be sent to carly at disneyweddingblog dot com. You can also connect with me through Twitter or Facebook.

Carly, Editor & Founder

I'm a lifelong Disney fan who met my husband while working at Walt Disney World on the College Program. Disney has played a central role in my life and when it was time to get married, we knew that no other place would hold a candle to a Disney Wedding. During the year we spent planning our wedding, we worked to cut corners and improvise so that we'd be able to have an amazing AND affordable wedding. On January 8, 2009, we had the most incredible wedding and I can honestly say that it was the best day of my life.

On my journey to the altar, I was introduced to a wonderful community of Disney brides planning and celebrating their weddings. Through their stories and photos, I experienced some of the most stylish, lovely, and heartfelt events I had ever seen. I found myself wanting to share these weddings with everyone else and started posting them for my readers. Three years later, I feel lucky to run a blog that's been a source of inspiration and information for so many brides.

Offline, I live in Salt Lake City with my husband, Kyle, our daughter, Eva, and our two cats, Charlie and Scout. We enjoy board games, Disney movies, and perusing used bookstores. I have a bachelor's degree in English from The University of Utah and earned my law degree from The Ohio State University. I currently work in social media as a trainer and freelance writer.

Hey Carly,

My name is Megan and I am from MN. I ran across your blog three days ago by just dreaming of when I get married and wanting a WDW wedding. I just spent all day reading and watching your special day come alive. (Really I have been on here for about four hours :) but I couldn't turn away!) I found it interesting that you and Kyle met while you were a CP. Where did you work? I was a CP Fall 2009. I wanted to let you know your wedding was amazing. It was great to see the insides of a real wedding and hear the real ups and downs of getting married at Disney! When I get married I would love to have your help because everything you did looked great! I just wanted to say thanks for letting everyone around the world on your wedding day and Happy Anniversary soon!

Hello Carly! Loved hearing your story! I am a fellow blogger but also a student! I am currently working on a speech for school about Disney Weddings! I need a Disney bride to interview unfortunately the project requires I interview in person, do you know any Disney brides in the Orlando area who would be willing to meet and talk about their experience? Thanks in advance!

Hey Carly!
I've recently taken over for Andrea as the wedding coordinator at the Hilton Walt Disney and I quickly came across your Disney wedding blog with pictures from one of our Indian Weddings. I would be happy to send you more pictures of Disney weddings as we commonly have brides who travel from all over to recreate the amazing wedding you had. Please email me at Rachel.Sitter@hilton.com if you would like more pictures for your blog. Congrats on a successful site & a wonderful wedding that has inspired 375 followers!
Sincerely,

Hi Carly, I LOVE your blog. I'm getting married in Disney World Orlando, Florida on July 17th, 2011, Yay!!! It is just around the corner. But my biggest concern is traveling with my wedding gown on the plane. Can you please give me some tips? Did you or any of the brides have had any trouble with the airlines or TSA about traveling with a wedding gown as a carry-on? I would greatly appreciate any tip you can give.-The Bride :)

Dear Carly:

I have a ton of love for WDW, and dreamed of getting married there. When my husband proposed, we looked into it, and it was just too expensive for us to do. We found that the Swan and Dolphin provide the ambiance of a Disney wedding with the complete customization we wanted. I had the absolute wedding of my dreams, and it was affordable and didn't make us go into debt. I noticed that you feature some brides who got married there as well, and I think it is a fabulous option for brides or grooms who love Disney as much as my husband and I do.

Thanks for all your hard work!
Susannah

Hi Carly

I ADORE anything that is related to Disney and was hoping to have wedding over there. Unfortunately, i don't live anywhere near Disney.
I am an Egyptian and i live in Egypt, so i was wondering if you can give me more ideas on how to have a Disney wedding without actually being there.
Do you think there is a Disney wedding planner that can come and create the whole Disney theme here?

here is my email ak.asmaa@hotmail.com

Waiting for your ideas and suggestions.

Thanks
Asmaa
