I had my hair + makeup run through with Anna from Makeover Majic last Tuesday. We actually got the hair/makeup trial and planning session all done in one day, which was nice because the rest of the week was free for whatever. The trial was $100, which is a little steep, but I had heard wonderful things about Anna from other Disney brides and I figured the trial run was well worth the investment.
Here are the inspiration photos I brought:
I really like the combination of big loose curls and smokey eyes, especially when it's half-up/half-down like this.

And here is my hair/makeup after the trial run:
It's really close to the pictures I gave her, but...I just look really..."done"...you know what I mean? I was sort of uncertain about it when I first saw it, but she was such a sweetie I didn't say anything. Plus, Kyle really liked it, so I figured it was just me. I don't know though. Maybe I'm just not used to seeing myself all done up. I already have her booked for the wedding, but I want to make sure that I'm comfortable on that day. I do think she did a good job, but I was very conscious of how done up I looked, especially since we spent the day hanging out with the Roots, which was the first chance we've had to meet them face to face.
Ok, so seriously. The hair? The makeup? What do you think? And don't tell me to do whatever I want, because I really don't know and if everyone else thinks I look fine, I'll think I look fine.

I can see your point about the hair and make up. I think the hair will look GREAT with your dress combo. But the make up just looks like it needs "something". It looks "done", as you said, but lacks that "va-va-voom!" factor that you see in the pictures. My suggestions would be to either play up the eyes a littler more, taking on some more purples/grey hues or play up the lips a little more. You have a great mouth shape so why not dabble in something that's more of a plum sort of hue than a pink? The pink doesn't seem to do anything for you or play up that asset.
Just some food for thought from a random stanger (who's done a LOT of make-up for theater in her time).
absolutely love it. you look good without looking too "done"... "done" would be all up with aquanet cement. and glitter. and ribbons. your dress requires a certain level of formality. and i really think that this style achieves it. plus the makeup can't be too garish... so i think overall great look for you. so pretty! except for the pink lips. i will agree with j. darling on that matter.
Thanks for the advice! I think you're right, it might be the makeup. Honestly, I think I might want more shadow and less eyeliner. Oddly enough, I totally disagree with you guys about the lips, though. It was the one thing I really liked.
She actually gave me the lipstick she used because I liked it so much. I thought this was an awesome bonus perk until Kyle pointed out that the lipstick actually cost $100. Riiiight.
Maybe check out some more purple/silver hues for your eyeshadow, or ask her to use a lighter eyeliner? Playing up your eyes may really help balance out the look, but you're right! I wouldn't go any heavier on the eyeliner!
I really like the hair and makeup. It is exactly how I would picture you wearing your hair for your wedding. I like it because it will work with or with out a veil which ever you choose. You definatly need to have something sparkly in your hair or some flowers. I would need to see your dress to decide.
I loveyour hair and make up, but I am confused....You had a Pre-Honeymoon???
goldeelox9 - hopefully you're still reading! i don't know how i missed this comment until just this second...
yep, we had a pre-honeymoon (and i recommend that to every bride out there!). we're taking a week off for the WDW wedding and then we need to take another week off for our CA reception the month after the wedding. There was no way we could take an extra week off to have a honeymoon somewhere in between without missing too much pay (or getting fired)!
Plus, I finished the bar exam a couple of days before this trip and we figured that the best time for a honeymoon was right after something like that.
i think it looks BEAUTIFUL
i love it
