Bling, baby

By Sunday my weekend always feels like it's over, but I'm happy to say that I had a wildly productive weekend this time and I finally feel like I'm getting things under control. Kyle went up to Akron on Friday for his bachelor party and I miss him something awful, but in his absence I do seem to get a whole lot more done...

Big news is that my bridal ensemble is coming together. After multiple try-ons and re-try-ons, I've finally made peace with my dress. I still feel like a cupcake in it, but seeing as it's a wedding dress, I suppose that's to be expected. I did shop for and try on a lot of dresses that didn't make me look all Cinderella Barbie, but Kyle pointed out that I only have to do it for one day and, if anything, I might regret spending my wedding day in a dress that looks like I could be going to Sunday Brunch. And so, I will float down the aisle on a big poof of a wedding dress and in all of our pictures I will marvel at that lovely girl down front who looks absolutely nothing like me.

I've also gotten my accessories together. I was looking for really big, dangly, chandelier earrings, but I hit shop after shop (with the assistance of Neaner and Nate) only to find out that the big chandelier earrings have the tendancy to look really cheap and tacky if you aren't dropping $75 on them. Since I'm only planning on wearing these earrings once, I didn't really want to make that kind of investment. We looked and looked and then finally, I found these teardrop-shaped earrings at The Limited, of all places. I was worried that they make my face look fat, since I'd always heard that longer earrings were more slimming, but I think they're actually pretty lovely. YES! Earring hunt is over!

And, moving from head to toe, I blinged out my flip-flops with Swarovski crystals. If you recall, I'm wearing $5 flip-flops from Target on my wedding day because they're super comfortable and I want to be as short as possible (which is about 5'10").

I'd bought some crystals for my veil so that I could put little mickeys all over it, but then I heard that they actually tend to show up like little black dots in the wedding pictures and I was worried that I'd just end up looking like I had bugs in my veil, so the crystals were reassigned to my feet. I'm planning on putting little crystal mickeys on my toes as well. I suppose it's a lot of work for nothing, since nobody will ever see my feet, but I'll like knowing that they're down there.

So, this bride is all blinged and ready to go. I need to dig around for the garter that Kyle caught at a wedding a couple years back and then I'll pretty much have my whole outift. The garter is my something borrowed, the flip-flops are my something blue, the earrings are my something new, and I've got my something old but I'm not going to blog about it. Even this girl has her secrets...
