I like the decorations and the favors and the yummy food and all the chatting, but I really have a hard time with most shower games. I've had to do everything from making toilet paper wedding gowns to picking a plastic ring out of a "wedding cake" made out of bleached flower...with my teeth! Sure, those kinds of things can be fun, but when you're either among strangers or maybe just not comfortable playing games with the other guests, it can be a little awkward to be super hands-on with the activities.
That being said, I totally understand why shower activities are necessary. It gives the party a focus and builds relationships/memories/etc. Plus, it breaks the ice for those guests who don't know anyone else but the bride, so (for those reasons) I am still pro-party games...despite my initial panic when confronted with party games.
That being said, I don't think you should organize any games that might make your guests wish they had just sent a gift. So,here are my top Disney-themed I-wouldn't-mind-doing-this-even-in-the-most-awkward-of-bridal-showers shower games:
- Pin trading. The hostess(es) get a bulk pin lot from eBay and give one or two to each guests as they arrive...perhaps on homemade ribbon lanyards? Guests are then encouraged to trade with one another and additional pins are awarded throughout the event for various games, etc. Good ice breaker and cute favor.
- Match up games. Create Disney-themed match up games and awarded prizes to the guests who get most of the answers right. If you're stumped, I've created a couple to help you get started: The Disney Love Song Match-Up Game and The Disney Couples Match-Up Game.
- Who am I? Pin or tape the name of a different famous Disney character to the back of each guest. Each guest has to guess the name of their character by asking the others questions to which the answer must be 'Yes' or 'No'. For instance 'Am I female?' Extra points to your party theming if everyone ends up being a different Disney princess!
- Name That Movie Buffet. Coordinate your buffet items to coincide with different Disney movies. For example, serve "rum punch" for Mary Poppins and "poisoned apple turnovers" for Snow White. Give guests a worksheet so they can guess which movie inspired each menu item and award prizes to the guests with the most correct answers.

what neat ideas! I had an Aladdin-themed shower, and although the goody bags and decor was very Agrabah, the food and games were not. In fact, the cake used my wedding theme instead (stars & moons), so it was rather out-of-place. BUT, I totally love the idea of theming the foods to match a film! I have seen the "match the song to the movie" game before, at a mad-hatter bridal shower. :)
