If you're thinking about doing a bridal shower inspired by Alice in Wonderland, remember that you don't have to go totally over-the-top. It would be fun to use life-size playing cards or a 15 foot tea table in your decoration, but if that doesn't fit your budget (or your party-planning schedule), don't worry about it. You can still pull off a great party with a cohesive theme just by adding in a few consistent details like these:

A mad hatter themed shower cake.
Don't worry about trying to get this custom-ordered
from Disney. This is a very popular style these days and
you should be able to find a baker in your city who can
make one for you for a reasonable price.
Tip: you might get a better deal on it if you say
it's a birthday cake, instead of a shower cake.
The inclusion of weddings seems to bump
all the prices up quite a bit.

Cookies with "Eat Me" written on them in icing.
This is a homemade and cost-effective way to continue the
theme and add a fun little element to the party.
Just be prepared for a lot of "eat me" jokes,
especially if this is a younger crowd.
It's inevitable.

You can also add homemade "Drink Me" tags to
the beverages, especially if you're doing drinks in bottles,
such as Jones Soda.
Side note: you can customize Jones Soda bottles
with your own photos if you go on the Jones Soda website
and order them early enough in advance of the party.
This is a cute way to share baby photos of the couple,
photos of them on vacation at Walt Disney World,
or their engagement photos.

Simple centerpieces made out of teapots and
Gerber daisies carry the theme even more if you put
handmade signs featuring characters and
quotes in them.
Side note: You can get teapots at thrift stores
occasionally, but they aren't often all that cheap,
since they're something of a collector's item.
You might have more luck buying simple
teapots in a variety of colors at discount stores
like Wal-Mart.

I think the "eat me" cookie is absolutely adorable. When my sister gets married, I'm making these for her!
