So, I thought we could take some time to focus on everything floral and floral-ish, from bouquets and boutonnieres to centerpieces, flower petals, floral wands, garlands, corsages, wreaths...you name it. This is a bit of a tricky topic for me, since the floral in our wedding was nice, but fairly uninspired since I'm not huge on floral stuff. We got all of our wedding flowers at a great discount from Katie, who was also planning a Disney wedding and had just changed her color scheme. I smushed all of the flowers into a duffle bag, checked it, shook them out in Florida, and *bam*...wedding flowers.
To be honest, if we had had a more forgiving budget, I actually think I would have had a lot of fun with the flowers. So, I'm excited to explore floral stuff this week...for both budget weddings and those with a little more legroom. I've seen all kinds of cool interpretations of traditional wedding flowers since we got married, so I know that there's plenty out there to share!
One of the floral projects that I did get involved in had to do with the daughter of one of my bridesmaids. I had a bridesmaid who came down to our wedding with her two year old daughter. Her husband wasn't able to come and my friend wasn't comfortable with childcare, so she ended up carring her daughter down the aisle instead of carrying a bouquet. We dressed her in white (the bouquets were white) and I made her a little floral wand that matched the rest of our wedding flowers.
If you're thinking about doing something similar, you're probably going to like the...

Giveaway
This week's giveaway comes to us from Etsy seller loveablecreations, who makes the cutest little floral baby hats on Etsy. This is a great alternative to giving floral wands to very young flower girls (or mini-bridesmaids, like I had). Although Audrey enjoyed her wand, I would have totally gotten her a flower headband and had her come down the aisle just like a little huggable bouquet if I had seen these before the wedding!

Etsy seller loveablecreations is generously giving away a $15 gift certificate to her shop, which goes a long way since her items are so reasonably priced!
To enter this giveaway, leave a comment on this post that tells me your favorite kind of flower. (If you can't think of your favorite, just name a flower. It's not like I'm going to track you down and demand to know whether you were telling the truth about your love for violets!)
I'll annouce the winner next Saturday. Good luck!
UPDATE: We have a winner!

Gerbera Daisy..I'm having pink gerbera's for my bouquet.
Great idea - those kids are super cute! My favorite flowers are gerber daisies and hydrangea
My favorite flowers are sunflowers! So Bright and happy :-). I also love daisies and fiddlehead ferns just add a splash of fun and texture! Those babies are so precious!
I love this idea. I would have never thought to do something like that.
My favorite types of flowers are Lilies (all kinds including Cala Lilies) and Irises.
Gardenias :) Not only are they beautiful but my grandmother always had a HUGE gardenia tree just outside of her house. Every time we went to visit my mom would cut 2 or three and put them in a small bowl of water and put them on the windowsill and they smell more beautiful than any flower in creation to me. My mother and grandmother have both passed away so this flower has so much meaning and the scent of it takes me back to the happiest of memories :)
My favorite flower is a StarGazer Lily. I believe they are so exotic and tropical looking. I love the color pink and they are a very pretty pink flowers. They are perfect for bouquets. Have one huge pink Stargazer Lily in the center with some smaller white lilies.
My favorite flower by far is the Lilly. I had calla lilies in my bouquet for my wedding and named my first daughter Lily. Recently I have really started loving Easter lilies, I just find them to be gorgeous!
My favorite flower is a peony. I'm getting married on Saturday(!!!), and one of the reasons we selected the wedding for this time of year is that peonies are in bloom....and their blooming time is oh so brief. I'd love to get one of these head bands for my friend who is having a little girl. Thanks!
The Calla lily is my favorite flower. Yay!
My favorite flowers are gerber dasies!!! Those baby headbands are soooo cute!!
I just started working as a floral designer and I believe I have found my niche in this big old world. My favorite flowers are ranunculus. The amount of layers are just so intricate and beautiful.
I love plumerias. Really anything tropical but my fav are definitely plumerias.
My favorite flowers are Pansies because ever since I watched Alice in Wonderland, every time I see those flowers I have to sing "A Golden Afternoon" and it makes me happy even when the day is cloudy. Plus, they come in so many beautiful and different colors that they brighten any place really wonderfully!
I'm completely in love with David Austin roses. They are gorgeously frilly and fluffy and just the embodiment of old England. My gorgeous fiancé bought me two of the rose bushes for my birthday, and they seem to be the first plant I have had in my life that hasn't keeled over!
i love tulips! makes me think of spring :)
