Quick note ~ We're headed out of town early this morning to spend a week with friends and family in Ohio. I'll be posting when I can, but I'm going to let myself take as much of an Internet break as possible, which means I probably won't be answering many emails or FB messages. So, please be patient and I'll get back to you after the holiday. Thanks and have a wonderful Thanksgiving, friends!
Other note ~ I thought for years that these were emu legs. They really are huge turkey legs!! Who knew?

Deal Alert: $50 Credit for Nordstrom Rack
You guys might have already seen this, since it started yesterday, but I didn't hear about it until last night. One of the Groupons going on is for a $50 Nordstrom Rack Credit selling for $25. (It's probably in addition to another Groupon going on in your hometown. Look for it on the sidebar if you can't see it.)
I got the $50 GAP Credit for $25 two months ago and it was such a good deal, since I used it with a 30% discount coupon and ended up getting 3 maternity shirts, a lip balm, and a hat for the baby all on my credit. So, I thought I'd pass this along in case you guys were looking to do some wedding or holiday shopping at the Rack.
And, just because we're talking about the awesomeness that is Nordstrom, I present a selection of shoes that would look really, really cute on bridesmaid feet or underneath your wedding gown:

Epcot - Isola West Plaza
The Isola West Plaza is one of the two areas located near the lagoon in front of the Italy pavilion at Epcot's World Showcase. Of the two areas (Italy Isola and Isola West Plaza), Isola West Plaza is the smaller one one. Since it is located inside of Epcot, you will need to hire transportation to take your guests to and from any event that you book at this venue.
Vendor Spotlight: Studio Z
I've been getting more requests from people who want recommendations for wedding vendors in the Disneyland area. Since I'm so much more familiar with Orlando-area vendors, I had quite the time tracking down the best California wedding vendors and double-checking all their reviews and what not, but I'm happy to report that I've finally started to add a little more Disneyland love to the recommended vendors list.
Speaking of which, meet one of our new Recommended Photography Vendors: Studio Z.

Epcot - United Kingdom Pavilion
The United Kingdom Pavilion located in the World Showcase at Epcot is available for small ceremonies. Wedding ceremonies must start by 9 AM. As this venue is located inside of Epcot, you are required to charter at least one motor coach through Disney for a minimum of 5 hours. One motor coach should be enough, since each motor coach holds 50 people and this venue can only accommodate between 2 and 25 guests.

Disneyland Hotel - Sleeping Beauty Pavilion

The Sleeping Beauty Pavilion at the Disneyland Hotel is a beautiful octagon-shaped ballroom with windows that go from the floor to the ceiling. It's very popular as a reception venue...so much, in fact, that for a while I though that it was the only space available at the hotel. In fact, it's one of five spaces available for wedding receptions, but it's so beautiful that it stays at the top of everyone's list.

Giveaways, Contests, and Freebies
- This week's DWB giveaway is of PassPorter's Disney Weddings & Honeymoons, a guide to planning your Disney wedding. Don't forget to enter here if you're in planning mode!
- Key Moments Productions, one of the DWB's Recommended Vendors, is giving away a Love Story filmed at Walt Disney World. From their blog: "A love story is a story about the couple. A story of how they met, fell in love and got engaged. This 4-9 minute film can be played at the at the reception or at the rehearsal dinner. Sharing the story with your guests, makes them feel more apart of your day. Its a time machine that you can look back at and say 'that was us, that is how we we when we got married'" Find out how to enter here.
- Viator Travel Blog is giving away a four-day Walt Disney World park hoppers for a family of four (two adults and two children). It's not a full vacation (with resort rooms and all that), but it's easy to enter since they're just doing comment-based entries like I do on this blog. If you have twenty seconds to kill, head over there and win some tickets.
- Working on your wedding registry? When we did ours (a bazillion years ago), I registered at a ton of different places to cash in on the free-gift-with-registry promotions. As a result, I got two knives, a cutting board, two frying pans, a rice steamer, a set of bath towels, a set of cookie cutters, a CD of romantic music, and an Italian cookbook...almost all of which I use all the time. Lucky for you guys, Kohl's has made it easy to register for these types of promotions all in one place (their website), so if you haven't gotten married yet and you want some random free stuff, you should think about registering at Kohl's. Look on their website at the bottom right hand corner, where it says "Receive free gifts from great brands."
BoardWalk - Atlantic Dance Hall
One of the most popular locations for receptions at Walt Disney World is the Atlantic Dance Hall, the giant nightclub located at the end of Disney's Boardwalk. It's a two story venue, decorated in the classic Art Deco style, which makes it one of the most impressive, stylish, and memorable reception spaces available.
Elegant Disney Wedding Decor and Table Settings
Most of the weddings that I showcase here on the blog feature standard linens and centerpieces at the reception, since many of the brides and grooms who get hitched on Disney property are doing a bit of budget-watching. However, every now and then I see a table that's really just dressed to the nines and it's amazing to see how much Disney can do when it comes to reception decor.
Blogger Eileen Kanter took a tour this fall of some of the wedding venues at Walt Disney World and posted these photos of the opulent table settings. The photos are a bit fuzzy (I'm guessing she used her iPhone), but they really show off how different the venues can look with a lot of pixie dust:

The Sweetest Family Dedication Dance
I love hearing stories from vendors who have been in the Disney wedding trenches. Here's a super sweet one from DJ Chuck Johnson:
I was told by the wedding coordinator (Michelle Gihooly) that Erin's parents could not attend the Wedding in Orlando. Erin's dad was very sick, so much so that they actually got quickly married three weeks earlier in their hometown. This was so Erin's Dad could see them get married, in case the unthinkable happened. As it turns out, her Dad was still very ill and could not make the trip to Orlando, so her Mom stayed behind, as well.
I couldn't help but think that this was terrible. I mean, here is what is supposed to be the happiest day of their lives, and it is overshadowed by this grim news.
So, two days before the wedding, I called Erin's parents and asked them if they might feel up to saying a few things to Erin and Jake- in light of the circumstances. I was going to record their voices, over the phone. Erin's Mom did most of the speaking, but her Dad got a line in at the end, as well. I helped them with the "script", given the situation, we didn't want to sound sad, but we did not want to forget the reason they were not in attendance, either.
So I got the final recording, and mixed it down with music. At the reception, without Erin or Jake's knowledge, I announced that there would be a "Family Dedication Dance" from Erin's Mom & Dad. Because the could not be there, they wanted to dedicate a special song to Erin and Jake. On the video- it is hard to see their reaction, because she told me later she was a bit overcome.
This is the result, I hope you like it!
Giveaway: PassPorter's Disney Weddings & Honeymoons
Time for a giveaway and it's a great one!
Carrie Hayward is the author of PassPorter's Disney Weddings & Honeymoons, a guide to planning your Disney wedding. It's basically become one of those things that you really can't live without if you're a couple looking to get married at Walt Disney World, but up until now the book was only available as an e-book, which meant that you had to go through an outside printer to get a "real" copy.
Good news! Carrie's book is now available in print through PassPorter's and by next spring it will be available over Amazon.com and at places like your local Barnes & Noble. How cool is that? I love that this book is going to be so widely available and I hope that it drums up some interest in Disney weddings from people who may not have even thought about getting hitched pixie dust style.
Oh, and there's something else that's pretty cool about the book. Check out the quote at the top:

Yep, that's my 5 seconds of fame right there.
Anyway, Carrie's given me a copy of the book to give away to one of you, so let's get to it!
Giveaway
The winner of this week's giveaway will win a print copy of the latest edition of PassPorter's Disney Weddings & Honeymoons by Carrie Hayward. To enter the giveaway, just leave a comment on this post with a link to your favorite post from The Disney Wedding Blog. That's right, it's a good prize and I'm going to make you work for it! I won't really be judging you on which post you choose, so don't worry. (Although if lots of people pick this post or the one right after/before it, they may start to look like spammers in my eyes.) I'm just curious to see what people have enjoyed and it will help me know what to bring you in the future.
Oh, and since our giveaways are a little sporatic and I want to make sure nobody misses this one, we'll make it extra long. You have now until the end of November to enter this giveaway. I'll announce the winner on December 1st. Sorry, but I don't have any ways to add extra entries (no tweets or Facebook action), so if you want more chances to win you'll need to recruit your mom/sister/co-worker to enter so that you can nab the book if you win.
Good luck!!

Franck's Bridal Studio
Franck's Bridal Studio is located at the Walt Disney World resort, between the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and the Polynesian Resort. Franck's is the central hub for wedding sales and couples commonly have their planning sessions at the bridal studio. The studio is open to the public, so you can step inside and take a look at samples of favors, centerpieces, cakes, bouquets, and photo books. However, if you'd like to speak to someone about possibly planning a Disney wedding, it's a good idea to call ahead to schedule an appointment.

Disney Engagement Photo Challenge
Feeling Crafty? Make These Easy DIY Candy Poppers
The holidays are coming up and that always puts me in a crafty mood. I think I have remnants of elementary school days, when Christmas meant popsicle sticks, glitter, and pure awesomeness.
If you've got the craft bug as well, here's an easy DIY that actually turns out a little stunning. I love that you can customize both the colors and the insides. If you don't want to fill one with candy for each wedding guest, you could fill one with makeup samples and give one to each of your bridesmaids or fill a few with small toys and have them available for kids at your wedding.

Find the tutorial (from Style Me Pretty) here.

California Adventure - Stage 17
Of all the Disney locations available in California, I think it's safe to say that Stage 17 is the most unexpected. While the other locations are beautiful and/or classic, Stage 17 is a venue that offers a very modern, knock-your-guests-off-their-feet atmoshere. This indoor venue has everything you'd expect to see on a movie set, which means that the folks at Disney can make your reception a truly incredible production (complete with lighting effects, video projection, and entertainment on their moving stage).

Disneyland - Aladdin's Oasis
California Adventure - Disney Animation Building
In my opinion, this is the one of the best locations out there for a Disney wedding reception. The Disney Animation Building at California Adventure is a stunning venue that surrounds you and your guests with images and sequences from classic Disney films.
This venue can accommodate up to 100 wedding guests. Since this is an in-park venue, your reception would take place after park hours. However, California does not have the photography restrictions that they have in Florida, so you'll be able to bring your own photographer in for the event. Here is a sample of what your schedule might look like if you decided to have your reception at this venue:

Disney Wedding Invitations from MOYA LARA
"A Disney Fairytale Wedding calls for a spectacular invitation, and for Edwin and Aida, it also had to be daring! The “Mystique” ensemble evolved into a dynamic combination of color offset with a bold accent of Swarovski crystal flourishes. The invitation rests inside a shimmering black Envelofold, fastened with a coordinating tag. Four flaps open to reveal two layers of shimmer and textured card stock backing an elaborately designed invitation which features a total of 24 crystals! Three enclosure cards provide additional information including the wedding event itinerary and accommodation information for guests. A matching RSVP card and return envelope complete the set."

Animal Kingdom - Belvedere Palace Ruins

The Belvedere Palace Ruins are located on the Maharaja Jungle Trek in Asia at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Here's a quick blurb about them from one of the Disney event PDFs:
Belvedere
Off the beaten path lies the riverside village of Anandapur or “Place of Delights.” Here you and your Guests will be surrounded by the sights and sounds of our village inspired by provincial towns in Southeast Asia. Upon entering the Belvedere - the Palace’s Herb Garden Ruins - you will find a formal dining area for you and your Guests to experience an upscale dinner event.
Events may start 2 hours after park close.
Capacity: 100 Guests
Epcot – Norway Loft

Photo Copyright Disney
Norway Loft is a backup location used in Epcot in the case of inclement weather. It’s not used often, but if you’re having an event at an outdoor venue in Epcot, it’s possible that you may end up using the Norway Loft. This is not a venue that you can book directly for wedding events, although the room is booked for other events (such as corporate gatherings).
I was curious about the Norway Loft, because brides have mentioned that their events ended up in there, but there are almost no pictures of the venue online. So, on my last trip to Walt Disney World, I tried to check it out. What I didn’t know was that the Norway Loft isn’t part of the normal guest areas and it’s not at all easy to find if you don’t know what you’re looking for. I had a general idea of where it was, but my search ended up qualifying as an international incident since three or four of the Norway pavilion cast members got involved after I got lost. They were finally able to direct me towards the room (apparently it’s really not used that often, since the first three cast members couldn’t find it) and I was able to take a look at the space.

Are you guys tired of the locations posts yet?
Just in case, I thought I'd sneak a wedding spotlight in here. I almost didn't post this wedding, because it's off-property and the Disneyness isn't very heavy. I like posting Disney-themed weddings that don't take place on property, but sometimes it's hard to tell if something is truly "Disney-themed". For example, I usually don't post a wedding if the only Disney thing is a Disney cake topper, just because I'd rather share events that will be more inspirational for people who are still in their planning stage. With this wedding, the Disney touches were subtle and although the table names were famous Disney characters, I wasn't totally sure if it would help people out.
What really won me over eventually was Amy's beautiful blue wedding gown (a la Cinderella) and the truly gorgeous decor at their wedding. This event might not be hit-you-over-the-head Disney, but it's certainly inspiring, don't you think?

Grand Floridian - Commander's Terrace
The Commander's Terrace is on the second floor of the Grand Floridian, next to the top of the Grand Staircase. It's a small, private balcony that is sometimes used for Escape celebrations and other small wedding gatherings. The Commander's Terrace looks out over the Grand Floridian beach.
Keep in mind that if you use this venue, the existing tables and chairs will be cleared to make room for your event. The following photos show the terrace set up for the enjoyment of Grand Floridian resort guests.

Grand Floridian - Narcoossee's Landing
Narcoossee's Landing is located at the end of the pier outside of Narcoossee's restaurant at the Grand Floridian Resort. One side of the pier is used for loading and unloading the boats that take guests to and from the Magic Kingdom. The other side is used as a ceremony venue for the Memories Collection.

Grand Floridian - Conch Key Marina
Grand Floridian Resort - Narcoossee's
Narcoossee's is a restaurant located right outside of the Grand Floridian resort, next to the Seven Seas Lagoon. It's a comfortable place with a great view, but it's only open as a reception venue if you're looking for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. The restaurant accommodates between 50 and 100 wedding guests.
Animal Kingdom - Tamu Tamu Courtyard
Tamu Tamu Courtyard is located in Africa at Disney's Animal Kingdom. It's right across from the restaurant Tusker House, kind of tucked away a bit. Since it's a park location, you have to hire transportation to take your guests to and from any event that you book here and you won't be able to use outside photography.
The venue is available for receptions and rehearsal dinners, as long as the event takes place after the park is closed. It can accommodate up to 50 wedding guests.
Epcot - Italy Isola
Italy Isola is one of the two areas located near the lagoon in front of the Italy pavilion at Epcot's World Showcase. Of the two areas (Italy Isola and Italy West Plaza), Italy Isola is the larger one. Since it is located inside of Epcot, you will need to hire transportation to take your guests to and from any event that you book at this venue.
Italy Isola accomodates a different number of guests depending on what you're booking it for. If booked for a reception or rehearsal dinner, the venue holds 50-60 wedding guests. If booked for a dessert party, the venue can hold 100 to 150 wedding guests.

Epcot - Bistro de Paris
Bistro de Paris is a charming little restaurant located in Epcot's World Showcase. It's a second story restaurant in the France pavilion, right above Les Chefs de France, the popular (and very busy) gourmet restaurant that catches your eye right when you enter the pavilion. As a venue for receptions or farewell brunches, Bistro de Paris can accommodate up to 100 wedding guests.
Since Bistro de Paris is located inside of the Epcot theme park, you will need to pay for transportation to and from the park for your wedding guests. There is no extra fee for bringing in wedding guests who don't have admission to the theme park, unless they will be viewing Illuminations (in which case there's a small fee for every guest that doesn't already have a valid park ticket for that day).

Yacht and Beach Club - Cape Cod A, B, C, D
Cape Cod Hall at the Yacht and Beach Club is a nice sized room at 864 square feet and it holds between 40 and 100 wedding guests. However, the room can be divided down into four separate rooms that fit between 2 and 20 wedding guests and these smaller rooms can be combined depending on how big your wedding is.

Yacht and Beach Club - Hampton Room
Yacht and Beach Club - Grand Harbour Ballrooms and Salons
The largest room at the Yacht and Beach Club Convention Center is the Grand Harbour Ballroom. When opened all the way up, the room is 38,000 square feet and can hold up to 1800 wedding guests. For weddings, it's most often divided into Ballrooms that hold up to 500 guests or Salons that hold up to 40 wedding guests.

BoardWalk Inn - Marvin Gardens Ballroom
BoardWalk Inn - St. James Ballroom
The St. James Ballroom at the Boardwalk Resort Conference Center is a good sized room for a reception venue and it can hold between 20 to 50 wedding guests when divided into two rooms or or a big room that holds up to 100 wedding guests. Even when divided into two rooms, both sides open up to a private patio.

Grand Floridian - Key West Ballroom
Grand Floridian - Whitehall Room
This is an incredibly popular location for receptions, pre-receptions, rehearsal dinners, bridal teas, dessert parties (with view of the Wishes fireworks), and farewell brunches. This beautiful room has a private patio and can officially hold 10-50 wedding guests (although we had 55 guests and used it for our pre-reception).
The Whitehall Room, located at the Grand Floridian, is within walking distance of the Wedding Pavilion.
