How to Use Pinterest to Save Photos You Love

Pinterest.com = the best way to save photos you find on the Internet. 

How to use it:

Pinterest allows you to pull and save photos from anywhere on the Internet while you're browsing and also lets you categorize them so you can find them easily later on. When you set up a Pinterest account, you can start making "boards". The boards are just collections or groups that help you keep things organized. Here's a look at my profile and boards:

As you can see, I have five boards and they're named "Disney Wedding Photos", "Disney Engagement Photos", "For the Home", "Love It", and "For Eva". They're pretty self-explanatory...the first two are for grabbing photos that I really love so I can find and share them later (since I see a TON of photo sessions). The next one is ideas for decorating our house and the last one is ideas for things that I'd like to buy or do with Eva. The "Love It" board is for everything else that catches my eye.

When you open up a board, you can immediately see thumbnails of all the images saved to that board:

When you click on a thumbnail, it takes you to that "pinned" image:

There's a link to the original place where the image was found and options for letting you share the image easily. If you're looking at a pinned image on someone else's board, you can also re-pin the image so that it goes to one of your boards:

Pinning images while browsing is easy because you just add a tool to your toolbar and when you're on a page that has an image you'd like to pin, you hit the button:

A window pops up and shows you all of the images on the page, so you can select which one you'd like to pin to one of your boards:

Select the image and another window pops up. This one has a pull-down menu where you can select which board you'd like to pin the image to and a comments field so you can make a note about why you like the image, how much it is, what you imagined it for, etc.:

Then you hit "Pin It" and voila! It goes to your board.

Uses for Pinterest:

• Collecting wedding inspiration photos. (Have different boards for floral, dress, decorations, etc.)

• Home decorating photos

• Christmas gift ideas - especially if you're crafty!

• Recipes you'd like to try

• Engagement photos (helpful when planning outfits and figuring out which locations and poses you'd like to include)

• Clothes shopping and creating an overall look

• Saving anything that made you smile
