I can’t even begin to explain how much I love this girl, so I was ecstatic to be able to take her photos. Michelle works with Disney weddings, so the proposal was tricky. AJ wanted to propose at Disneyland because it’s a very special place for both of them, but where could he propose that Michelle hadn’t seen before? This was going to take some special planning, so he asked Michelle’s co-worker Traci if she had any ideas. Traci mentioned they were going to be doing some photos in the Dream Suite. She said she doubted she’d be able to sneak AJ in with a photographer, but she was going to see. AJ knew Michelle would love to have the wedding team there, and he knew it would be something different and special for Michelle. It was tricky though, up until ten minutes before the proposal we still weren’t sure if we were going to be able to make it happen. Right before we were about to switch gears and propose in New Orleans instead, the stars aligned and everything worked out amazingly.

A few updates from blogland...
- Today is the last day to sign up for the 2011 Disney Wedding Blog Holiday Card Exchange. We aren't doing a Secret Santa this year, but if you want to be part of the card exchange I'll be sending those lists out this afternoon.
- I've been getting a rush of spotlight applications from couples who want to get their weddings posted before the 2011 Disney Wedding Awards begin. At this point, I have so many that I'd have to post 4-5 weddings every day to get them in before January (which is just a bit much no matter how much you love weddings). To make sure I can accommodate as many people as possible, the DWAs won't start until February, so don't panic! Keep sending in your submissions and I'll work on getting them up.
- I'm also working on the prizes for the awards. This is the first year that we won't be using prizes from Etsy sellers, so it's been a bit more challenging to find prizes that fit. A few companies have expressed interest, but I'm still putting feelers out there to find the perfect sponsor. If you know of a business that might be interested in sponsoring the awards, let me know or have them drop me a line.
- Changes are coming to the vendor lists in 2012. I'm exploring different ways to spotlight particular vendors and connect them with this blog's audience. I'm also going to try to find a way for smaller wedding vendors to have access to advertising without overrunning the blog with ads. I'll keep you posted...
- A few people have asked about the state of the other blogs. As you know, I started two more blogs during the last year: The Disney Baby Blog and The Disney Party Blog. Both started strong, but the posts dwindled down to a creep after a while. Those blogs are still on my mind and I'm continually collecting spotlights and posts for them, but I'm going to revamp them a bit over the next couple of weeks and hopefully we can start fresh in January.
- Side note - thank you to my team of Disney Wedding Mentors and the readers that have taken advantage of their creativity and expertise. It's great to have the help! I apologize to everyone else who has emailed or sent me FB messages and either never heard back or had to wait for a reply. In the last twelve months, I've gone full-time as a professional freelance writer, gone back to school to start working towards my Master's, and had a baby. Right now, I'm also spending a lot of time trying to win a contest that would make me a much better blogger/mother/student/wife and hopefully a much saner person. So, hang tight and we'll hope that 2012 brings a little more relaxation and some quicker email responses!

The 2011 DWB Holiday Card Exchange
Hello friends,
As you may remember, we usually do some sort of exchange around this time of year. We've mostly done holiday card exchanges, but last year we did a Secret Santa. People who participated were matched up and they sent/received holiday care packages. It was a lot of fun, but unfortunately there were at least four people who never received anything. Since I can't promise that won't happen again, we're going back to a holiday card exchange this year.
In this exchange, people who want to participate will send me their name and address. That information will be added to a list which will then be sent to all participants. (Let me repeat: if you participate, your address will go out to everyone so if that makes you nervous, this isn't for you.) Once the lists are out, participants will send a holiday card to each person on the list and they should receive cards from all over the place. To participate, just send your name and address to carly@disneyweddingblog.com by this weekend and I'll try to get the list out on Monday or Tuesday.
I won't be participating in the card exchange this year, because I've got a bunch of stuff going on this December. However, I did put a little something together for all of you. I hate to leave you with only a digital card, but know that it was typed out with love. Seasons greetings!
