Erin wanted her wedding to be the epitome of colorful. Flowers to decorate this space would have cost an arm and a leg. We needed a less expensive alternative. The answer? Paper poms!! They gave us the colorful look we were going for on a budget that we could work with. We gave the florist very detailed pictures of exactly what we wanted. It turned out perfectly! We honestly could not have been any happier.
Don’t you just love the programs?! They were a gift from Erin’s mom. Impressions created them and I just think they are so awesome.
No wedding would be complete without stalkers –
So the wedding began. Rick and his best man entered, followed by Erin’s oldest nephew. Originally he was supposed to walk to “Heigh Ho” but the night before he had a chat with Bob Jackson, with some last minute changes he instead did this super cool “hip-hop” inspired walk to “Tonights Gonna Be a Good Night.” He looked awesome!
You could tell that it was his most favorite part of the wedding day. Shortly after the bridesmaids, flower girl and ring bearer followed.
At that very moment Rick turned to his best man, who turned to the junior groomsmen who turned to look back at Rick. Every groom’s worst, well second worst nightmare! Rick started signaling with his fingers that there were no wedding rings! I am sure you all are thinking that Vera Tidey is suddenly going to appear and beat the best man with a feather duster, but no that wasn’t in the script, neither was Major Domo. I leapt from my chair and went running to the entertainment director who immediately got on the radio with something that must have sounded like “MAYDAY MAYDAY there are no rings!!”
I know you all must be gasping – I mean I surely was.
Luckily, just as our bride made it to the half way point of the super long aisle a family friend jumped up with the rings in her purse. Hooray she saved the day! ….and nearly gave us all a heart attack!!
So the wedding continued, luckily everyone survived the fright. At this point Bob Jackson was nearing the end of “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” Erin and her parents had almost reached the end of the aisle. You have to trust me Erin and Rick were the only people with dry eyes in the entire place. Maybe future first looks should include all the guests?? Just an idea.
So then it came time to exchange the rings. Here is where my little surprise came in. A few days before the wedding Erin had a very minor panic attack over the fact that we really didn’t have a ring box. Little did she know I had been working on a special one for ages.
Rick first opened the box
Then he showed it to Erin.
I think it was a hit – what do you think??
Notice the completely appropriate Bible we found? Yup, could not have been any more fitting. Erin and Rick asked Erin’s cousin to officiate. It gave the wedding a very personal feel and saved them the cost of hiring a professional.
YAY!!! They are now Man and Wife.
About a week before the wedding Impressions came up with the idea of ribbon wands. I honestly could not have imagined a more perfect staged exit. In truth I always thought staged exits would be a little awkward but it worked really really well.
See Turo made it to the wedding! Did you see his matching tie?
Didn’t I tell you the ribbon wands were awesome?! This is my most favorite of all of their wedding photos.
Then at the very end of the super long aisle we handed out parasols to all of the kids and ladies. Instead of going through Disney and paying $10 each we drove to a really really sketchy abandon looking building in Northeastern PA and got them for $3 each. Sure we could have died but it was worth the savings. :o)
